Meditation is the most commonly found activity when searching online for ways to relax.  However, it is not the only one to choose.  I encourage you to choose what feels right for you.  If you’re not sure how to do the activity, I suggest reading around the internet or asking someone you trust.

I do want to add that having mental health needs like anxiety or depression is demanding on your body.  If left alone, it can manifest into physical symptoms in your body.  I don’t think I have met anyone who enjoys feeling anything out of the ordinary in their body.  Neither should you.  You always strive to focus on alleviating any symptoms whether physical or mental health related.

In the fast past world, we are in, we sometimes need to slow down the pace.  We must make it a habit to find ways to have a break in our day.  It is much easier to relax when you commit to taking a break rather than making it discretionary.  Once committed, it’s time to select the activity.  After you choose you it, DO consistently practice it daily or as often as needed.  You want that activity to become automatic when you feel the need. You can choose one activity or choose many and that’s the beauty, you are not bound to only one.

Ultimately your activity will help you work towards a positive quality of life because you are using it as a preventative measure.  Even though it is difficult to measure or quantify something that is intended to prevent stress, anxiety or depression you should continue to work on it because in the bigger picture it will benefit you.  Especially since life is much more enjoyable when you maintain a positive balance lifestyle.  Trying to keep a balanced lifestyle is not easy or a perfect task, so don’t expect miracles overnight.  It takes time and perseverance to see the actual effects of your hard work.  Worst case scenario, you are working on a fun activity.
